Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, Artemide is now one of the most recognized lighting brands in the world. Over more than six decades, the company, headquartered in Pregnana Milanese, Italy, has achieved tremendous growth, operating through 24 branches and with a distribution network of 55 showrooms in major cities around the world.
Collaborations with renowned designers
Artemide has become synonymous with products that boast exceptional skills in light design and innovation derived from extensive research and high-quality production. With products such as Eclisse from 1967, Tolomeo (1989) or Pipe from 2004, the company has made international design history. Their lamps are considered international design icons of our time and can be seen in most contemporary art museums. The company has always invested heavily in collaborating with the most renowned international designers and has also paid great attention to research collaborations with outstanding Italian and international universities. They can also boast numerous prizes won.
Commitment to sustainable development
More recently, the company has committed itself to sustainable development, not only environmental but also social. In the last few years, they have obtained certifications that confirm this vision, such as ISO 9001 (quality management system), ISO 14001 (environmental management system) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management systems). In 2020, the company issued a Sustainability Report, which shows concrete figures for sustainable and environmental development, such as the percentage reduction in total energy consumption and the reduction in direct CO2 emissions. In 2021, Artemide used only energy from certified renewable sources.
The iconic Tolomeo luminaire
One of the most iconic luminaires produced by Artemide is certainly the Tolomeo lamp, which saw the light of day in 1987. As Michele De Lucchi, the designer of the famous lamp, says, Tolomeo is a brand with a future that is constantly being renewed and transformed.
